Netscape Navigator 2.0


On September 18, 1995, Netscape Communications Corporation released the Netscape Navigator 2.0 web browser. The browser was available for Microsoft Windows 3.1/ 95/NT, Apple Macintosh, Linux, Solaris, IRIX, HP-UX, AIX, SunOS and FreeBSD.

The browser contained a wide range of innovations and enhancements. Among other features, Netscape Navigator 2.0 supported JavaScript, animated GIFs, the HTML tag <frame> and proprietary tag <blink>. Netscape Mail 2.0 was also part of version 2.0, making Netscape Navigator 2.0 a fully operational Web application package.
